If you bought a Britax Canada Stroller or Car Seat recently, you may want to register it with Britax to make sure it isn’t being recalled. Britax is issuing a recall of the foam-padded arm-bar on certain B-Ready strollers manufactured between April 1, 2010 and December 31, 2012. The company recently issued a recall for certain infant car seats and strollers including:

1. B-Safe 35 infant car seats manufactured between October 1, 2014 and July 1, 2015 with model numbers E9LV15M, E9LV15P, E9LV13F, S914300, S914700, S914500. If your Britax product has a different model number than the model numbers listed above or it was manufactured after July 1, 2015 it is NOT included in this recall. This recall is in cooperation with Transport Canada, Health Canada, the U.S National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
2. Voluntary recall of certain B-Ready strollers and replacement top seats manufactured between April 1, 2010 and December 31, 2012 with model numbers U281767, U281768, U281771, U281772, U281773, U281774, U281784, U281792, U281793, U281794, U281795, U281796, U281797, S845600, S845700, S845800, S845900, S855000, S855100, S856600, S870200, S870300, S870600.

Earlier this week we wrote a post stating that cauliflower prices were back to normal but we, as grocery shoppers, should beware that price increases are on the way. This image above from the Financial Post demonstrates the percent increase in price from December 2014 to December 2015. You can see that celery took a huge hit and we ended up paying 46.3% more this past December than in 2014. Items that have smaller increases are processed such as ketchup or salad dressing.

Canadians paid 4.1 percent more for food purchases mainly because of the high price on fresh fruit and vegetables (aka cauliflower and celery) that are being shipped from warmer climates. The Bank of Canada Governor, Stephen Poloz, said on Wednesday that a ‘sharp currency deterioration could feed broader price hikes that unhinge inflation expectations’. With that being said, get ready to see high prices on food in the very near future and think about ways to save!

If you shop at Walmart, get ready to start paying for those plastic bags.  Starting on February 9th, Walmart will join the list of retailers charging $0.05 for each plastic bag used as part of its strategy for cutting the amount of plastic that ends up in landfills.

They will have reuseable bags available for a limited time at just 25 cents each to help you make the move to reuseable & recyclable bags.  Since most Walmart cashiers bag as they go and are used to providing unlimited bags, it may be a bit of a learning curve.  I noticed when shopping last week without my reuseables that my cashier used 5 plastic bags when three would have fit, but she gave them to me as she got to larger/fragile products.

Walmart says that the money from plastic bags will go towards supporting recycling initiatives for grocery bags and other thin plastic objects.  They will also work on improving in-store recycling and collection programs and work with suppliers to find ways of removing plastic from its packaging.
