In an announcement released by The Healthy Canadians today, we have learned that there has been a product recall on JA-RU’s Dino World Dino Ooze that was sold by Carlton Cards Canada between October 28th, 2014 and March 30th, 2015. The reason for this recall is because the product has been found to contain organic solvents which, if inhaled by your child for a continuous period of time, could cause some serious harm to their health.

The UPC code for the recalled products is, 075656017351, and the toy item number is, 1735.

If you or anyone you know has purchased one of these toys in the past 6 months, then you can return your Dino World Dino Ooze to any Carlton Cards for a full refund, or dispose of it in the trash.

The Children’s Place Canada is having a sale throughout the entire site right now where you can save up to 40% off on everything, excluding new arrivals, footwear and sleepwear. In addition to this sitewide sale -which requires no promo code – you can also use the savings pass, SHOP3, to receive an extra 15% off on your entire purchase.

You will be allowed to use your savings pass only once, and if you are using it in-store you will have to print out this coupon. The savings pass will expire on Monday, May 18th so you will have the entire long weekend to take advantage of these two hot offers from the Children’s Place.

Since the new arrivals won’t be included in the sitewide 40% off offer, I would suggest that you steer clear of this section in order to save yourself the most amount of money. For instance, this knit tent dress that has been adored with brightly colour flamingos is currently on sale for just $14.96 (was $19.95), but when you stack this sale with the savings pass you will only have to pay $12.72.

The Children’s Place always offers a standard shipping rate of $8.

This weekend at NCIX Canada, until May 20th, they will be running their Loooong Weekend sale, as this Monday is Victoria Day. And what better way to celebrate a paid day off work, well, for some of us, then to drop some hard earned money on a hot gadget or tech deal?

There are a number of hot offers available in this week’s promotion at NCIX, including products like a 27-in LED Widescreen Monitor from ACER that is on sale for $199.99 (was $273.98), but what really stands out is that NCIX will also be providing free-shipping on all orders that are $50 or more.

This particular deal, while it is under $50, will still qualify for the free-shipping offer from NCIX, making it an exceptionally hot deal. This Steelseries 3HV2 Gaming Headset With a Retractable Microphone (recertified) is currently on sale for just $14, though before it was being sold for $35 more than that. The headphones have an all-leather design, to provide maximum comfort during your listening experience and are also rather convenient as they are light enough to be easily transported from home to wherever it is your day may take you. You can read through reviews if you are unsure of this product, but most of them will confirm that these headphones are a solid purchase with the quality being surprising good – especially for the price point.

Another hot find from within NCIX’s long weekend sale was the $25 you will save on the Kingston HyperX Fury Dual Memory Kit, as the kit is now on sale for just $64.98 (was $89.99). The Kingston HyperX has 8GB of memory available and would provide great performance for any PC user, no matter your usage style or preferences.

NCIX will be running all of their long weekend deals until May 20th.

Marks Canada is having a sale for the remainder of the month where you can outfit yourself with a new pair of men’s casual Denver Hayes shoes for up to half off the price that you would usually have to pay. When you buy any one of the new pairs of men’s Denver Hayes shoes, you can receive a second pair for free.

The second pair that is discounted will have to be of equal or lesser value to the first, but seeing as most of the shoes all linger around the same price point ($59.99-$84.99), it won’t be too difficult to find a good deal.

I thought it’d be best to find two pairs of shoes that were as different from each other as possible, so as to maximize the wearability of each shoe. I thought these slate grey Copenhagen Slip-Ons ($69.99) would be nice dressier option for the summertime, working well for BBQs and casual days at the office. As a more casual option to the slip-ons, these navy blue Shoreditch Boat-Shoes ($59.99)could be worn for laid back days at the beach, or even for doing light lawn maintenance and gardening. Together, the two shoes will only cost $69.99, though they would normally be $129.98.

Marks will be running this offer until June 1st, and they also offer a standard shipping rate of $6.50.

Lowe’s Canada will be celebrating the long weekend by giving you a present, and that present – depending on your region – could save you up to 13% off, as Lowe’s will be hosting a save the tax event for this May Long Weekend. You can shop this event both in-store and online, though if you are shopping online the discount will only be 11.5%, which if you’re shopping from British Columbia or Ontario won’t be very good deal. Also, to receive the online discount you will have to enter the promo code, SAVETHETAX, at the checkout.

Within the save the tax sale at Lowe’s, you will be able to save up to $300 off on your purchase of patio furniture, but remember that you will not be permitted to save the tax on clearance items. Depending on the region you are shopping within, the exact amount of money you save will vary. The breakdown of the discounts will look something like this:

• Ontario, save 13% sales tax
• British Columbia, save 12% sales tax
• Saskatchewan, save 10% sales tax
• Alberta, save 1o% on purchase

Lowe’s Canada will be hosting this tax-free event until Monday, May 18th.

Lowe’s offers free-shipping on parcel orders of $49 or more.

Clinique Canada is offering their online shoppers who spend $31 or more the chance to receive a free 7-pice gift bag, that alone is valued to be worth $85. After you have completed this part of your order, you will be prompted to customize your gift by choosing between either the Glam or Glow option. If you choose Glow, your order will include All Heart Long Last Lipstick and Sunset Glow and Black Honey for your Shadow Duo, with a Mocha Pink Pressed Powder Blusher. To introduce the new summer fleece collection at Roots Canada, Roots will be providing online shoppers with free-shipping on all orders for this weekend, no matter how small their purchase may be. There is no promo code required to receive the free-shipping, just note that the offer will only be valid until May 26th at 10am EST.

Since Roots already offers free-shipping on orders that are $50 or more (before taxes and discounts), the best way to take advantage of this limited time offer would be to keep your purchase total below $50. The easiest way to do this is to shop within the mid-season sale section, where products are on sale for up to 50% off, and are more often below the $50 mark.

Within the sale section I was able to find a number of different options that were discounted to be under $5o, for men, women and kids. For the men, there is a decent selection of graphic tees that you can choose from, like this Organic Portage T-Shirt, which is now on sale for just $24.99 (was $34). Ladies can pick up staple pieces for a rather affordable price as well. For instance, these Essential Leggings are now being sold for just $16.99 (was $22).

Roots will be running this offer until Tuesday, May 16th.

The Royal Canadian Mint rolled out their new coin collection last week, The Looney Tunes Collection, and it was met with great praise from parents and kids alike, as who wouldn’t want a commemorative coin that features Bugs, Tweetie, or Daffy Duck? While most of the coins in their new lineup air on the pricier side of things, this $20 Fine Silver Bugs Bunny coin (2015) is actually quite a steal.

The $20 Fine Silver Bugs Bunny Coin features the lovable bunny himself on a coin that has a 350,000 mintage. Since the coin’s face value is $20, and you only have to pay $20 for it – as there is no tax on this product – you will be paying the exact value of the coin. The Mint will also be offering free-shipping on the Bugs Bunny Coin, meaning that $20 is literally all you will have to pay for what would make a great graduation, Father’s Day, or even birthday present.

It was reported this past Monday that hackers have been breaking into Starbucks accounts of unknowing customers and stealing money from their bank accounts, credit cards and PayPal accounts. This break-in issue is largely due to the lack of security on the Starbucks app, which can gain automatic access to your bank account and credit card through auto-reload and reloading gift cards.

The company has had problems with the app’s security measures in the past, as just last year it was discovered that they had been leaving their passwords open to viewing in plain-text.

Starbucks says that they have not been hacked, and that most of the hacking that has been happening recently can be attributed to password’s not being strong enough. The people who have recently been hacked have actually come forward and said that they’re passwords were not all that ‘unique’. Starbucks recommends that you use both upper and lower case letters, as well as a combination of numbers and symbols so as to keep your password better protected.

Starbucks hasn’t said whether they would be updating the security system on the Starbucks app, so as to prevent any future instances of hackers gaining access to your account, but it is still rather early to tell if they will change that statement.

Yesterday we posted about how Bench Canada has a great selection of sale stock available right now, with select items being up to 50% off. When you combine these already reduced pieces of merchandise with the current promotion going on at Bench, where you can take an extra 40% off sitewide during the Family and Friends Event, you will be able to save up to 70% off. You will also be allowed to use the Family and Friends discount on new arrivals, but only until May 18th at 11:59pm EST, as that is when this promotion ends.

If you’re wanting to find the biggest bang for your buck, then your safest bet is to shop within the sale section (though there are some good deals to be found in the regular priced section as well). Within the sale section, I found this beautiful and warm Genuflector Zip Thru on sale for just $35.99, which is a remarkable savings of $83.01 from the original price of $119.

And while there are some hot deals to be found in the sale section, not everyone can justify purchasing a bulky jacket with the temperatures now wavering around the 15-20 degree point. Which is why it may be worth your while to use this Family and Friends discount in the new arrivals section, where the pieces are a little more seasonally appropriate. This Packon Zip Thru, which hails straight from the new arrivals section, is now on sale for just $47.40, though it would normally retail for $79. Light pieces like this zip thru are great for the summer, especially on cooler nights spend beside the camp fire where you need just a little extra coverage from the bugs and breeze.

Bench Canada offers free-shipping on all orders that are $99 or more, but remember that this sale will also be available in-store.

The JJ Cole Infant BundleMe Soho is a rather popular baby accessory, especially for those of us who reside in areas where winter is more of three seasons, rather than the brief 3-4 months stint it is advertised as being. Right now, on Well.ca you can pick up one of these JJ Cole Infant BundleMe’s in the Soho colour for half-off the regular price of $59.96, as it is now on sale for just $30. And since Well.ca will also ship orders that are over $29 for free, then you will also have this product shipped to your home free of charge.

I was also able to find the same model, the JJ Cole Infant BundleMe in Soho, on Amazon.ca for a comparable price of $27. If you were placing one large order on Well.ca, then perhaps you may not mind ordering the JJ Cole from Well.ca for the additional $3 for convenience’s sake. However, if you were just looking to buy the JJ Cole Infant BundleMe Soho and nothing else from Well.ca, then I’d advise you purchase it from Amazon.ca, as they too will ship it to your home for free since it is above $25.

An accessory that will help to keep mom and dad comfortable after long car rides, instead of your little one, is this HoMedics Back & Shoulder Shiatsu Massage Cushion and it is now on sale at Well.ca for just $125 (was $209). The Back and Shoulder Cushion can adjust to fit your body, and unlike some massage cushions, will spot-massage on areas of tightness that may need a little extra TLC. This massage cushion will also ship to your home for free, since it is above $29.

Though I’m not entirely sure why Walmart Canada is selling this 60″ LG LED Smart TV for this price, I am not one to complain, particularly when a 60″ flat-screen dips to below the $500 mark. Right now, the 60″ 1080p 120Hz LED Smart TV at Walmart is on sale for the remarkable price of $798, with the eco-fees it will still only be about $837.50 (as it will ship to your home for free too).

Walmart is selling this LG TV, and many other hot clearance items, at these crazy discounts as they are having clearance extravaganza event. Initially, I could not see the price of the LG TV until I added it to my cart, after which Walmart revealed its shockingly low price to me.

To give you a fuller sense of just how good a deal this is, I’ll show you some of the prices that other retailers are selling the same TV for:

• Amazon.ca, $1,199.99
• TigerDirect.ca, $1,299.99
• Dell.ca, $1,199.99
• NCIX.com, $1,299.00

Another hot deal from the clearance extravaganza event at Walmart, was the sale on the Borderlands 2 Limited Edition PlayStation Vita Bundle. Unfortunately, the site reflects only the online price of $199, rather than the hot in-store price, which will be half that price at just $99. Stock on these bundles are selling out fast, as most of the stores close-by to me had already sold out of the bundles, but if you hurry you too may be able to snag this hot bundle for just $99.

• Click here to buy the LG 60″ 1080p 120Hz LED Smart TV,
• here to find the nearest store with Borderlands 2 Limited Edition PlayStation Vita Bundle in-stock,
• or here to begin shopping the rest of the clearance extravaganza deals at Walmart online.

The coupon will only provide this discount on packages that are 350g, and it will expire on July 31st, 2015.
