If you’re already on Facebook (and who isn’t nowadays?) chances are you’ve already delved head first into the wonderful world of Facebook applications. Facebook applications offer everything from the generic “What X-Man am I?” type quiz to games like Scrabulous, media collection software like Flixster or iRead, and integration with other social networks like Digg. Facebook applications offer something for everyone — so what does it offer for the politically-minded Canadian?
Politics in Canada is a fairly simple app, but well worth adding if you like to wear your party allegiance on your sleeve. It helps you to let everyone know which parties you’d be voting for at both the federal and provincial levels if we were to have an election today by sticking them in a box right on your profile.
In addition to being a great catalyst for debate amongst friends, it offers some pretty cool stats such as mapping the locations of all users, showing us where each party is strongest. It’s pretty fun stuff.
Obviously this application isn’t going to be for everyone, but if you’re comfortable sharing your politics and you’re looking for another fun little application to say “I’m Canadian, dagnabbit!” Politics in Canada is a fun way to go — and like nearly everything on Facebook it’s deliciously free.

Yippy thanks so much MissScrooge for letting us know that Chapmans has brought back their $5.00 coupon as one of the prizes on their site!
To receive this coupon you need to first join Chapmans site (see link below) and then play games until you hit 6000 points. Really its pretty easy to get the 6000 points, but sadly Chapmans limits you to 750 points a day – so it will take a few days of playing before you can redeem for the coupon. You are allowed two coupons per year, and anyone can join – young or old!
Thanks Jean-Philippe of MobileInCanada.com for emailing me about this deal.

The plans are out! Five days after the predicted date, nonetheless they’re now available.
Rogers and Fido have released their unlimited mobile browsing plans for $7 per month which is an impressive price for that service.
HOWEVER there is a catch and a very disappointing one! You can only browse on locked Rogers cell phones. This plan includes unlimited on-device mobile browsing only. Plan is available on select phones only (PDAs such as Blackberry or Windows Mobile devices, PC cards and non-Rogers certified devices are not eligible).
By enforcing this rule, you can’t use your unlimited browsing plan to run Skype or Video stream which ruins the beauty of an unlimited plan. That’s why this is strictly called “Unlimited Mobile Browsing Plan” and not “Unlimited data plan”.
Have a package to ship? Before you take it down to Canada Post or drop it off at your local FedEx depot, why not make sure you’re getting the best bang for your buck?
ShipGooder takes the basic info about your delivery — weight, postal/zip codes and number of packages — and calculates the prices for every major delivery method out there. UPS, DHL, FedEx, Canada Post, it’s all there, and the service is completely free. It even provides info for a variety of time concerns — same day, 2 day, three day, and Ground (1-6 day) pricings are all provided. Definitely a site worth checking out — especially if you’re an ebay seller or have an online shop of some sort and have to deal with shipping on a regular basis.
When it absolutely, positively has to get there overnight… there’s no reason you can’t save a few bucks on the way. 😉
Thanks sprocket for this coupon 🙂
