For a while now, Chapters/Indigo has had the best deal on the market when it came to bestsellers. Offering 50% off the books on the Globe & Mail Bestsellers list to it’s iRewards customers (online only) would be a hard deal to beat, wouldn’t it?
Amazon’s pulled it off. Now you can get 50% off Globe & Mail Bestsellers without paying for an exclusive iRewards membership.
Tons of great books on here once you start exploring. Click here to check out their half off offering.

As you might have already heard on the news, Google’s Street View is coming to Canada. Just in case you don’t know what Google Street View, it is a feature of Google Maps and Google Earth that pictures many streets in the world in 360° panoramic views. In order to do so, Google mounts a sophisticated set of cameras on cars and vans and drives around streets in cities taking detailed 360° pictures.
Many people are concerned that this will lead to a loss of privacy or they might appear on a Google Street View doing something embarrassing. Google claim that they blur out people’s faces and car license plate numbers; but if a history book on a shelf repeats itself, then here is what we’re destined for. Embarrassing pictures taken by Google Street View in other countries:
Guy getting into the adult book store
Crime in progress
Girls sunbathing
…. and way way more pictures. Just google Google Street View images and you’ll see a lot of weird images from protesters at an abortion clinic, sunbathers in bikinis, cottagers at public parks, parents hitting their children to people picking up prostitutes.
Being a geek I still think it would be cool to have Google Street View for major Canadian cities but I just wanted to point out that with such a nice tech feature there will be a little price to pay. So guys, make sure Google Street View van isn’t around next time you’re visiting that strip club 😛

The picture above was posted by caribb on flickr. It was taken in 1975 when Air Canada didn’t suck as much as it does today. Here’s what he had to say:
A Blast from the Past
-Mirabel Airport’s opening weekend was an open house on Oct 5 1975 to the general public… The Concorde was there and so was this new Air Canada 747-200Combi on static display.. I used to love the big black nose and thought it was THE best looking 747 in the Sky’s at the time. It still appeals to me today in fact. If I recall correctly Air Canada had just received delivery of this first Combi 747 just prior to this event in July.
Speaking of Air Canada’s current state check out this review in the new Canadian Reviews Section:
Flying Air Canada “As painful as a root canal done by an infant with a rusty butter knife”

It’s hard to imagine many jobs in life where height really matters. Truck washers. Light bulb changers. Some other imaginary job for the purposes height-related of comedy. But in the real world there’s only one career I can think of where height makes all the difference: basketball. And never in my life have I seen a picture where that’s more apparent.
Have at it b-ball fans and captioners alike; what’s the real gem this week?
Mexx Canada is having a nationwide sale starting on June 21st, 2009. Get 50% off the regular price on everything in store.
Mess has very reasonably priced good quality items. Dress shirts for instance would end up costing around $30 after the 50% discount which is very decent. Make sure you go early and on the first day of sale to find your size.
