I know many of you are wary of coupons that require you to approve facebook apps that give out the details of your friends and family but you can protect yourself when others like apps by changing these app settings – if everyone does this, it will make liking apps much safer for all users.  Many of us unlike apps after use but they may have saved the information to the company already, so your data is still with them, they just can’t use the app to find it again.

Note that you can’t hide your friends list, gender or any information you have public on your profile unless you turn off apps completely and you are protecting your data not that of your friends so make sure to share this and let them know.

Uncheck these boxes and next time your friends like an app, they will only see your name, gender, friends list (but your friends will hopefully have hidden their data too) and any public information which you can easily hide.

I don’t buy meat at Walmart often, but yesterday while shopping, I needed to pick up some chicken breasts and did not want to go to our usual store after Walmart, nor carry chicken around for an hour in Walmart.  I know there is always a difference in weights, but the difference really surprised me with these $9 packs with roughly 5 chicken breasts per pack.  This is just a few of them but shows the lowest and highest weights I could find, a difference of 388g, a bit under 1lb.

• 1.65lb @ $5.46/lb
• 1.89lb @ $4.76/lb
• 2.39lb @ $3.76/lb
• 2.5lb @ $3.60/lb

Fortinos, my local grocery store, has chicken breasts at $3.99/lb this week so by buying the largest pack, I did save some money.   The number of packs with under 900g/2lbs far outweighed the heavier packs however and most people would end up paying far more (a lot more with these weights).

Addition Elle Canada is having a free Bra Fitting Clinic this Saturday October 5, 2013. Great opportunity to get your bra fitted for free if you need to.

That being said, it seems that some retailers employ unknowledgeable people who get the bra fitting incorrect. I’m not saying Addition Elle does that, just that it happens sometimes. Reddit has an awesome guide on Bra fitting, how to get the size right, where to buy bras etc. I strongly  recommend you check it out especially if you have any of these symptoms:

• A bra that doesn’t lift — it simply sits ontop of your breasts and mooshes them
• A gore (central part of the bra) that doesn’t tack, especially after swooping and scooping (here is a photo of a properly “tacked” gore)
• A band that rides up
• Straps that curve away from your body in the back (band is too big)
• Strapless bras that slip down constantly
• Straps that fall down
• Gapping in the top of the cups (this can happen at any size, but especially seems problematic among A and B cups)
• “Quadboobing” or excess breast tissue that has nowhere to go in the cups
• Breast tenderness when you take off your bra that has nothing to do with your time of the month
• Neck pain
• Back pain
• Straps that dig into your shoulders
• Breasts that fall out of the center of the bra
• Breasts that fall out of the bottom of the bra
• Excess “armpit fat” (this can actually be breast tissue)

I came across very useful information about Target Clearance pricing in the US and I feel it might apply to Target Canada as well although I’m not sure to what extent. If anyone works at Target and can provide more information that would be greatly appreciated!

Every Target shopper needs to know this:

The best to know if an item is on final clearance is to look at the tiny number in the upper right hand corner of the clearance tag. Generally, it goes 15, 35, 50, and finally, 75/80 percent off. After the 75/80 final markdown, the item is removed from the store, “salvaged”, and donated or sent back to the supplier.

Furthermore, If the price ends in 8, it will be marked down again. If it ends in a 4, it’s the lowest it will be.

Target’s mark down schedule (this may vary from store to store though so just use it as a rough guide):

• Monday: Kids’ Clothing, Stationary (office supplies, gift wrap), Electronics.
• Tuesday: Women’s Clothing and Domestics.
• Wednesday: Men’s Clothing, Toys, Health and Beauty.
• Thursday: Lingerie, Shoes, Housewares.
• Friday: Cosmetics.

GMail introduced a new inbox today, and you could be missing important emails (including updates from SmartCanucks) as a result.

When you log in, you will see your Primary Inbox (the mails that Google determine as important to you) but updates from sites you do want to see will be hidden in other tabs

• Social includes when someone mentions you on facebook etc
• Promotions include everything from save.ca emails to Checkout 51 offers and some emails from this blog
• Updates include all of my private messages from SmartCanucks, my shipping notice from well.ca and many other important emails I do want to see in my inbox.
• Forums include private messages and updates from various forums

You can tell  GMail that you want to see these emails in your Primary Inbox by dragging them or right clicking and choose move this item and choose a tab.  It will then ask you if you want to do this for all future items.  If you do not want to miss out on important emails, start dragging those emails now.  You can also choose to deselect all tabs (use the + button at the end of the tabs) to go back to your old inbox.
