Starting this Thursday, May 7th is the much anticipated start date of the Dollar Drink Days promotion at McDonald’s Canada. If you haven’t had the pleasure of taking advantage of this promotional event in the past, then you will be excited to hear that during Dollar Drink Days at McDonald’s you can buy any size soft drink for, you guessed it, one dollar.
If soft drinks aren’t your go-to summertime beverage for cooling off on a hot day, then you can also get either a small or medium size iced coffee. You will have the choice between getting a regular iced coffee, or you can get a little crazy and add in a shot of caramel, vanilla, or sugar-free vanilla to give yourself a nice little treat.
This promotion generally runs for at least a couple of weeks, though there has been no end date provided for the public yet.

The other day we posted about the returning Frappuccino Happy Hour promotion at Starbucks Canada where you can get the cool blended beverage for half-off the regular price. This offer will be available for everyone, with no Starbucks card needed to receive the promotional discount.
Starbucks will however be providing Starbucks card members with an additional hour of ‘happy hour’ fun. For Starbucks card holders, the happy hour event will go from 3-6pm everyday until May 10th, while everyone else will only have until 5pm each day during the promotion to receive the 50% off.

An important announcement was made the other day regarding your taxes, and for those of us who thought that they’d be filing late this year you will be rather excited by this news. The Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) announced that the last day to file your taxes has been pushed back five days and will now have the final day to submit your taxes as May 5th. What makes these extra few days to file your taxes even better is knowing that Turbo Tax Canada has also decided to extend their 20% off sale on all online 2014 editions.
The least expensive edition that Turbo Tax will offer is just $14.39 (regularly $17.99). This standard edition is the most popular version for individuals and families, however, if you are an investor or small business owner then you may be more interested in the premier edition which is currently on sale for $27.99 (was $34.99).
Turbo Tax will be hosting this extended sale until May 5th, 2015.

Wind Mobile Canada’s new unlimited monthly plans have definitely made the competition a bit more steep within Canada for the going cellphone rates, especially with their new $35/month talk, text and data plan. The plan is, as stated, only $35 a month and with it you will receive:
- unlimited Canada-wide calling
- unlimited Canada-wide texting
- unlimited Data (2GB full speed allotment)
- unlimited Canada/US-wide picture/video messaging
- voicemail
- call control (caller ID, missed call alerts, call waiting, etc.)
- and up to $150 in Bring/Buy your own phone credits or WINDtab
If you’re still looking to go cheaper, the $25 a month plan offers all of the same features, except that it won’t include the unlimited Data, which nowadays is as much a precedent as unlimited texting is on a phone (as a lot of us do use our phones as handheld computers).
When you compare this plan with other cell phone providers, you quickly realize that this offer from Wind is probably going to give you the most mileage for your money. For instance, Mobilicity offers a $35 a month plan, but they offer ‘light data’ while Wind offers unlimited data. In the light data offer, you will receive e-mail and social networking, which is fine if that’s all you use your data for. If you use your data for other activities, however, it leaves you rather limited.

Instead of making plans to just meet your friends this week at your local watering hole for Friday night drinks, you should instead modify your plans so that you first stop by the nearest Starbucks Canada store between 3-5pm as they are bring back the infamous Frappuccino Happy Hour.
Starting this Friday, May 1st, until May 10th, when you go into any Starbucks between 3-5pm you can buy any Frappuccino Blended Beverage for half-off the regular price. Considering that these are some of the most expensive items on the Starbucks menu, a discount of 50% off is quite significant for your pocketbook. Plus, with the forecasted weather for this weekend looking to, hopefully, warm up a bit an ice cold frappuccino may be just the kind of afternoon pick me up you were looking for.

Heinz Canada has issued a recall on a brand of its baby food from the markets this morning due to concerns about possible spoilage. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall warning on the Heinz Sweet Potato and Beef Medley baby food due to a “potential loss of seal” which could leave the product open to spoiling. No illnesses have been reported so far, but if you have this stocked up in your pantry, you are being advised not to eat it.
Earlier this month, Heinz Canada also issued a recall on Heinz Chicken with Broth baby food sold in 100 ml containers due to similar concerns about the seals. The affected Chicken with Broth jars carry best before dates of Sept. 26, 2016, and Dec. 12, 2016. As with the Sweet Potato and Beef Medley flavour, you are advised not to eat it if you have an affected jar in your home.

About a month ago now, we introduced you to Apple’s recent innovation in wearable technology, the Apple Watch. The pre-ordering for the Apple Watch has already begun, as the site opened up to customers on April 10th, with an anticipated shipping date of the first orders to be April 24th. While you can still pre-order your watch from Apple, they have warned that there may be a bit of a wait on orders placed later, as they expect that the demand for these hot new Apple gadgets will far exceed their available stock.
Within Canada, the lowest prices on the Apple Watches start at $699 and this will provide you with the 38mm Stainless Steel Sport Band Apple Watch. If you are wanting the next size up, the 42mm Apple Watch, then you will have to fork over an extra $80 as this model costs $779. The other models of Apple Watches increase in price almost exponentially, as the price breakdown is as follows:

The most expensive Apple Watch will be the 38mm 18-carat rose gold/yellow gold watch with a modern buckle, and this watch will cost $22,000.

Wind Mobile Canada is changing up their terms of service to better suit those of you who have your eyes set on more expensive phones but would still like to keep your cell phone bill from reaching into astronomical monthly fees. They have done this by creating more strict limits on your monthly data, but by decreasing the cost of each monthly package with the most expensive package (the $60/month) being decreased to just $50/month.
Wind has changed the data limits for each monthly package to incentivize you to purchase the $50 package, as it offers the most at 10GB per month for just $50 while the other packages will provide you with the following:
- $35/month – 2GB
- $40/month – 3GB
- $45/month – 5GB
- $50/month – 10GB
You will be allowed to add on an additional 10GB/month for an additional $10/month on the new Wind plan, which means that the maximum data you will be permitted on your Wind server will be 20GB/month (if you are on the $50/month plan). To finance your new phone, Wind is also allowing you to pay for your phone in $25/$15/$5 instalments, with the $25/month option giving you a maximum credit of $650, and the other options providing you with $450 and $250 respectively.
These new pricing plans will come into effect on April 9th, which is convenient as the new Samsung Galaxy S6 will also be launching this Friday at Wind Mobile.
