HBC Home Outfitters Canada has a promo on Dyson vacuums: purchase any full size Dyson Canister vacuum and receive 1 million HBC Rewards points. These points are worth a $125 Home Outfitters Gift Card. The Dyson models included in this promo are Dyson DC20, DC21, DC23 & DC23 Animal with prices ranging from $499.99 to $749.99.

I personally have no experience with Dyson vacuums but starting at $499.99 they seem very pricey! Even after 1 million HBC rewards points! So I guess this deal would be good if you were planning on buying a Dyson vacuum anyway. Dysons are known to be particularly good if you have pets and family members with allergies.  Looking at the Dyson prices at Home Outfitters I can see they’re a bit inflated so it’s probably a good idea to compare prices to other  stores and make sure you’re getting the best deal.

Everything Dyson produces seems to be pretty pricey in general. Their Dyson Airblades which  are supposed to eventually replace the classical energy guzzling  hand-dryers in public washrooms cost around $1500 each. Dyson Airblades use some pretty neat technology stolen from similar to the Japanese Mitsubishi Jet Towel.

Lots of new changes around here lately thanks to the beautiful new overhaul Boo has given the site. I’d like to talk to you about one of those changes right now, since I know questions about it are bound to pop up about it sooner or later: avatars.

As you may have seen, a few folks (myself included) now have their picture beside their name when commenting on a post. This is done not through SmartCanucks, but through a website called Gravatar. Gravatar is something of a universal avatar system. While it won’t work for every website you visit, you’ll find that many of the blogs you comment on have gravatars active.

Once you’ve set up your gravatar account any site that has a connection to gravatars should automatically begin to show your photo next to the comments. Neat, huh?

I’ve never personally tried Left 4 Dead PC game, but I’ve heard it’s a pretty fun and addictive game. This weekend only Steam online has Left 4 Dead on sale for 40% off. Instead of $39.99 you can buy the game for only $23.99 USD.  Note that you don’t get the actual DVDs but instead you get to download the game from the Steam Canada servers. For most people with high speed Internet that shouldn’t be a problem at all. Left 4 Dead has both single player and multi-player modes but the multi-player modes seems to be what people love the most about it.
