I am writing to you to comment on your recent Birthday Bash Promo. On Sunday Sept 14/08 I shopped at Canadian Tire, Barton Street, Hamilton. I presented my scratch ticket to the cashier. She scratched it in a fashion that the results were concealed, and she said after she threw it in the garbage that there were no more cakes left.
Now my concern is, I did not witness the reveal, nor she did not show it to me. When asked to see it, her reply was “too late…it’s in the garbage.”
Was the prizing actually a cake or $5 or whatever. It would been easy to identify the ticket as the back was completed with name and the answer to the skill testing question.
I am very disatisfied in how this was handled, and do not appreciate the rude mannerisms of the cashier.

The fine folks over at makeuseof.com have put together a fantastically frugal list of 10 freeware alternatives to popular commercial Mac programs.  Alternatives to iWork, PhotoShop CS3 and Parallels are amongst the list of needlessly pricey software to have a freeware counterpart.

As a recent Mac-adopter (recent-ish — it’s been about 18 months) I can’t help but wonder how many SmartCanuckers join me in the cult of Mac.  Speak up and be heard, fellow Mac users!

I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it! So I had to write a blog post to let everyone know! Overstock.com now ships to Canada! It’s been in the works for a while, but while I was searching for sheets last week I came across that they started shipping to Canada very recently.

I had avoided the site for some time because It was such a tease, cheap prices and great deals but no shipping here.   I hope to find some great deals,  that  I’ve previously browsed being ”teased.”  Hopefully more retailers follow suit and will ship here!

I know some like to buy Canadian only, but me I just like getting great deals!

This is definitely one of the neater things I’ve come across recently.  Flickr user BorderFilms posted up this image of the Canada-US border in Beebe, Quebec.  On the left side of Canusa Ave?  Canada.  On the right?  America.

Living in Niagara I’m used to long lines and tough security when crossing the border.  Who knew there were places where your children could chase a runaway ball into another country?

KFC Canada is now offering a Vegan sandwich. Peta and KFC Canada are together promoting the sandwich by offering a Buy one KFC Vegetarian Sandwich Get one free.  The coupon expires on September 30, 2008.

I usually hate Peta’s antiques antics and disgusting ways of pushing vegetarianism but I have to admit this is a decent offer.
