The MAC Cosmetics/Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale is happening again, this time March 5-7, 2010. This takes place at the Markham Fairgrounds, in Ontario.

Tickets are only available for employees and their invited guests. I know this sale is a hot hot ticket every time it’s on and many people look for tickets. These sales run every 4 months or so, in March, June, September & December. Please note, these tickets are not available by going to a MAC store or counter and asking for tickets, invitations are only available to employees. Your best bet would be to make friends with a makeup artist, if they have extra invites, it is up to them whether they share them or not.

picture-81

We are all aware of the horrible earthquake that struck Haiti recently. There has been an outpour of donations and lots of media and news attention on this cause. Tonight, CBC has a special airing called “Hope for Haiti now” and the US has their own version as well.

We are all lucky to live in Canada and have the wonderful living conditions that we do, we should all help the less fortunate and give what we can. If you have money and want to help this cause, tune into these specials, which are on right now, or look online on how to donate and where.

Important Information for Canadian Donors: If you wish to generate dollar for dollar government matching funds and receive a tax receipt, donate to a canadian charity, you must go to http://www.cbc.ca

Soft Moc Canada National Shoe Drive: Help Survivors of the Haitian Earthquake Disaster!

I just came across this thread by meguwo in the deals section and thought it needed to be seen by as many people as possible.  It’s time to give back and here is a really easy way to make a big difference.

Hey everyone. I wasn’t sure where to post this, but I know the deals section gets a lot of views and I know how generous all of us are on Smart Canucks. I just received this in my inbox and its a great way to help out the surivors of the earthquake in Haiti.

It’s really easy. All you need to do is bring in your old shoes to any Soft Moc store across Canada between January 15-22. They will donate the shoes to help the survivors in Haiti.
I personally challenge each and every member of Smart Canucks that has a Soft Moc store near them to donate at least 1 pair of shoes. Everyone has to have an old pair of shoes that are no longer wearing. Just drop them off at your local shopping mall while you are running your usually errands. Take a picture and share it on this thread of your donation. Give a little, get a lot.

I know it’s hard for everyone to donate money, but this is a really easy way to donate and help. Most of us have old pairs of shoes just collecting dust in our closets! Or, the shoes your kids may have outgrown.

Seventy percent of Haiti’s population lives on less than $2 a day and half the 8.5 million population is unemployed.

There are more than 80 store across Canada! Find a Soft Moc Location Near You!

And here is the link to meguwo’s original post, so you can take her challange and post your donation pictures!

When What to my Wondering Eyes Should Appear . . .

canadian-living

So I’m flipping through the October issue of Canadian Living looking for coupons (scan for coupons first, read later) when I see the word ‘coupons’. Upon closer examination I discover that it is an article entitled “Online Coupons” by Deena Waisberg. Hmm, I wonder to myself, what sites does she list? I scan the bolded text box on the bottom right hand side of the page, pretty much assuming it’d be save.ca and the like, and what do I see but – you know what’s coming here don’tcha??? http:smartcanucks.ca !!!!!!!!! Woohoo! That’s Us!! I mean I know it’s Boo Radley (did I mention you’re fantastic!) but collectively it’s us!!!!  Right there in print on page 186 of Canadian Living – wooh Boo your name’s going to be in bright lights! (well, your user name anyway ;-p) Congrats SmartCanucks!!

$299.00 PS3 Should You or Shouldn’t You??

*Please note that what you are about to read is purely the speculation of the writer and not to be taken as official advice endorsed by SmartCanucks.ca

Ever since Sony released the PS3 with the hefty price tag of $599.00 a lot of people have been waiting for a price drop, myself included, and finally it’s here! You have probably seen at least one post or advertisement this week about the great new price of $299.00 and you may be thinking ‘now’s the time’ (and your husband might be jumping up and down b/c he can no longer contain his excitement). But is now the time?? Here’s some info to consider; Sony has officially announced the release of the PS3 Slim for Sept.1, 2009 for the same price of $299.00. So now you may be thinking ‘ok so I can get a new slicker model for the same price, but I really want it now!’  So, consider this, the new model is going to be 120 gb while the old model is only 80 gb. A reasonable assumption at this point is that the new Slim PS3 is going to be a better value (and right now it is), so I pose this question – What will happen to the 80 gb when the 120 gb Slim is officially released for the same price? If one is clearly a higher value than we, as savvy shoppers, know that it will be a hard sell trying to convince people to pay the same price for them! So, in theory, a possible price drop in the 80 gb in the very near future??? *shrugs. I don’t know, but I’m going to wait just in case the real question ends up being; does size matter? 😉
